Talc-free
Talc can contain traces of asbestos. Unity Cosmetics uses talc-free formulas.
What is it?
Talc (talcum) is one of the most widely used ingredients in cosmetics, particularly in powder, eyeshadow and blush. It absorbs moisture and gives a smooth, silky feel.
Why do we exclude it?
Talc is mined from deposits where it can naturally occur alongside asbestos. Although cosmetic grade talc must be asbestos free in the EU, multiple studies and lawsuits have shown that contamination cannot always be ruled out. Talc can also clog pores and dry out the skin with prolonged use.
What do we use instead?
We use talc-free alternatives such as rice powder, corn starch and silica that offer the same mattifying and absorbent properties without the risks of talc.
