Ingredient information
Bismuth oxychloride-free
Bismuth oxychloride is a mineral ingredient that can cause skin irritation and itching. Common in mineral make-up.
What is it?
Bismuth oxychloride (CI 77163) is a synthetic mineral pigment widely used in mineral make-up for its pearl-like shine and silky-smooth feel. It gives foundations and powders a luxurious, light-reflecting finish.
Why do we exclude it?
Despite its popular use in 'mineral' make-up, bismuth oxychloride causes itching, irritation and unsettled skin in many users. The ingredient's crystal structure can mechanically irritate the skin. It can also clog pores and is a common trigger for acne and rosacea.
What do we use instead?
We achieve a beautiful, light-reflecting finish with milder mineral pigments such as mica and titanium dioxide that don't cause irritation.
Safe for you
All Unity Cosmetics products are free of bismuth oxychloride. Ideal for anyone who suffers from itching or irritation with mineral make-up.
